Abstract:
The present invention relates to a transmission for an electric vehicle, which is a transmission capable of forward driving, including a first-stage forward mode in which power from a drive motor is transmitted to wheels via a sun gear, a planetary gear of a carrier, and a ring gear by means of a clutch, and a second-stage forward mode in which the power from the drive motor is transmitted to the wheels via the sun gear, the carrier, and the ring gear, wherein the clutch includes: a clutch housing connected to the carrier and rotated with the carrier; a clutch friction plate provided to rotate with the clutch housing along the inner circumference of the clutch housing; and a clutch disk provided to rotate with the ring gear along the outer periphery of the ring gear and selectively contacting the clutch friction plate to connect or disconnect the carrier and the ring gear, and wherein the transmission is provided with a dog clutch that is coupled to the clutch housing in a reverse mode to fix the carrier such that power generated by means of reverse rotation of the drive motor is transmitted to the wheels via an input shaft, the sun gear, the planetary gear, the ring gear, and an output shaft, thereby enabling reverse driving while the rotation of the carrier is fixed by the dog clutch in the reverse mode.
