Abstract:
A transmission-type liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal (11) with a dichroic pigment (12) dissolved between two transparent plates (13a, 13b), and a back light (17). Even when the display device is not in use with the back light (17) turned off, a dummy voltage is kept applied to the liquid crystal (11). Therefore, there is realized a transmission-type liquid crystal display device which has high quality and maintains reliability for a long time without developing color shading or brightness shading on the display screen.
