Abstract:
In the present invention, a transmissive display device comprises a transparent display panel (106), a display unit (20) that projects display light (204) showing an image towards a display region (40) set at one portion of the transparent display panel, a ratio change unit (30) provided at the display region of the transparent display panel; configured to enable change of the ratio of the volume of bottom surface reflected light (206) that reaches the observer viewpoint (107), such bottom surface reflected light (206) being display light that has passed through the display surface of the transparent display panel and is reflected at the bottom surface of the transparent display panel, to the volume of surface reflected light (205) that reaches the viewpoint (107), such surface reflected light (205) being display light reflected at the surface side of the display region of the transparent display panel; and configured so that light transmissivity can be changed, and a control unit (12) that switches back and forth between a first state and a second state of the ratio change unit using a prescribed duty ratio. In the first state the ratio change unit makes the volume of bottom surface reflected light that reaches the viewpoint lower than the volume in the second state, thereby lowering the above ratio, and in the second state, light transmissivity becomes higher than in the first state.
