Abstract:

Effective broadcast transmissions can be performed. A source device (10) uses information transmitting/receiving functions to read EDIDs from the respective EDID ROMs (30a-1 to 30a-N) of sink devices (30-1 to 30-N). The source device (10) decides, based on data format information in the EDIDs, a transmission data format of A/V streams such that the transmission data format can be supported by all of the sink devices (30-1 to 30-N). The source device (10) broadcasts, based on the transmission data format decided as stated above, A/V streams to the sink devices (30-1 to 30-N). The sink devices (30-1 to 30-N) receive the A/V streams broadcasted by the source device (10). Since the transmission data format of the A/V streams can be supported by all of the sink devices (30-1 to 30-N), the received A/V streams can be effectively reproduced by all of the sink devices (30-1 to 30-N).
