Title:
TRANSPARENT COMPOSITE SUBSTRATE AND DISPLAY ELEMENT SUBSTRATE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/047382
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A transparent composite substrate according to the present invention comprises a composite layer containing a glass fabric constituted by a collective body of glass fibers and a resin material impregnated in the glass fabric, wherein there is a variation in refractive index in the collective body of glass fibers, and the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the refractive index is 0.008 or lower. Thereby, a transparent composite substrate having superior optical characteristics and a reliable display element substrate provided with this transparent composite substrate can be provided. When the glass fabric is a woven glass fabric woven from at least one first glass fiber bundle formed by bundling a plurality of glass fibers and at least one second glass fiber bundle formed by bundling a plurality of glass fibers, it is preferable that a ratio of a first rate relative to a second rate is from 1.04 to 1.40 inclusive, the first rate being the rate of glass fibers in the cross-sectional surface of the first glass fiber bundle per unit width, and the second rate being the rate of glass fibers in the cross-sectional surface of the second glass fiber bundle per unit width.
