Abstract:
The present invention provides a transport device and an image forming apparatus that can minimize deformation of sheet materials. A transport device 50 includes: a claw 120 and a claw base 110 that grip the leading end of a sheet material P; a moving mechanism 51 that moves the claw 120 and the claw base 110 to transport the sheet material P gripped at the leading end thereof by the claw 120 and the claw base 110; and a changing mechanism 150 that pivots the claw 120 and the claw base 110 about an axis extending in the width direction, which is perpendicular to the transport direction of the sheet material P, to make it possible to change the gripping angle, at which the leading end of the sheet material P is gripped, with respect to the transport direction.
