Abstract:
Provided is a transport device with which a prescribed distance or greater can always be maintained between a plurality of transported articles. An upstream conveyor (20) is equipped with a passage sensor (22) for sensing the passage of transported articles (3), while a downstream conveyor (30) is equipped with a measuring device (32) for measuring the transport distance (L) of the downstream conveyor (30). From the time at which the passage sensor (22) detects the passage of a downstream transported article (3B) to the time that the passage of an upstream transported article (3A) is detected by the passage sensor (22), the transport distance (L) of the downstream transported article (3B) is measured. When the transport distance (L) is equal to or greater than a prescribed value (A), the upstream conveyor (20) operates continuously, and transports the upstream transported article (3A) downstream. When the transport distance (L) is less than a prescribed value (A), the operation of the upstream conveyor (20) is halted until the transport distance (L) reaches the prescribed value (A) or greater.
