Abstract:
Provided is a travel assistance device for a vehicle that associates map information and assistance control, prepares a storable database for each vehicle or driver, and uses said database to achieve accurate travel assistance. A controller (10) detects the travel position of a vehicle on the basis of a GPS detection signal (G) that is supplied from a GPS antenna (13), searches a database (DB) on the basis of the detected travel position, reads the contents of assistance control that corresponds to the travel position or stopped position of the vehicle, and performs assistance control. When assistance control has been executed, the controller (10) determines on the basis of an audio signal (SA) supplied from a microphone (12) whether a driver is conveying one of three attitudes with regards to the execution of assistance control, namely whether the driver is emitting a sound that can be determined to express agreement, whether the driver is emitting a sound that can be determined to express disagreement, or whether the driver is emitting neither of these sounds. On the basis of the determination result, the controller (10) corrects the contents of the assistance control and overwrites the contents of the database (DB).
