Abstract:
A travel control system (1) having: an onboard control device (10) installed in a vehicle (2), the onboard control device (10) controlling the traveling of the vehicle (2); and an onboard display device (20) communicably connected with the onboard control device (10), the onboard display device (20) using a screen display and/or audio output to present information to an occupant of the vehicle (2), wherein: the onboard control device (10) acquires external surroundings recognition information recognized by an external surroundings sensor (50) and/or out-of-vehicle communication, determines driving action specifics that should be taken by the vehicle (2) on the basis of the external surroundings recognition information, specifies a driving action factor that is the reason for determining the driving action specifics, and outputs the driving action specifics and the specified driving action factor; and the onboard display device (20) acquires the driving action specifics and the driving action factor outputted by the onboard control device (10) and gives notification of the driving action specifics and the driving action factor by using a screen display and/or audio output, thereby reducing any instability and/or sense of discomfort experienced by the driver and/or occupants due to the automatic travel control of the vehicle (2).
