Abstract:
When a host vehicle (V0) is executing an automatic lane change control to cause the host vehicle (V0) to change lanes from the traveling host lane (L1) to an adjacent lane (L2), after the lateral speed (Vh) of the host vehicle (V0) is increased within the host lane (L1), an automatic lane change control is executed so as to reduce the lateral speed within the host lane (L1), whereby in comparison with a lane change in which the lateral speed (Vh) is reduced within the adjacent lane (L2), the time is extended in which the driver of a following vehicle V2) can ascertain the movement in the lateral direction of the host vehicle (V0) from the start of the lane change of the preceding host vehicle (V0), and the lane change becomes easier to perceive.
