Abstract:
A travel controller is provided with: a vehicle detecting unit (10, S100) that detects the position of peripheral vehicles traveling around the host vehicle on the lane that the host vehicle is traveling on and on an adjacent lane in the same traveling direction; a generating unit (17, S104) that assigns potential fields to predetermined areas adjacent to the positions of each peripheral vehicle and generates a potential distribution which is an on-road distribution of the potential fields of each peripheral vehicle, said potential fields indicating the degree of psychological pressure on the driver of the host vehicle; and a control unit (17, S118) that controls the traveling state of the host vehicle so that the host vehicle travels in positions with relatively low potential fields in the potential distribution.
