Abstract:
A computer references a storage unit which stores a plurality of observation data units in which travel time taken for a vehicle to travel over a road section has been observed at a plurality of timings. Next, the computer, on the basis of two or more observation data units among the plurality of observation data units for the road section, obtains a first statistical value of travel time at a first point in time of a day for which prediction is to be performed. In addition, the computer obtains a second statistical value for travel time at a second point in time that is later than the first point in time. Then, the computer, on the basis of the first statistical value, the second statistical value, and the travel time for the road section observed at the first point in time, calculates a predicted value for travel time at the second point in time. At this time, the computer calculates the predicted value so that the difference between the second statistical value and the predicted value for the travel time for the road section at the second point in time is smaller than the difference between the first statistical value and the travel time for the road section at the first point in time.
