Abstract:
This traveling control apparatus for controlling traveling of a host vehicle so as to avoid another vehicle ahead is provided with: a calculation means for calculating the relative speed of the host vehicle and another vehicle; a state detection means for detecting the motion state of the other vehicle; and a control means for controlling an avoidance process carried out to cause the host vehicle to pass by the side of the other vehicle by avoiding the other vehicle, wherein the control means changes the separation distance by which the host vehicle and the other vehicle should be separated during the avoidance process, in accordance with the relative speed detected by a speed detection means and the motion state of the other vehicle detected by the state detection means.
