Abstract:
Disclosed is a treatment agent that can efficiently remove heavy metals from contaminated water by putting a treatment agent into contact with contaminated water, wherein the treatment agent comprises a compound — that reduces the pH of the contaminated water to less than seven — combined with iron powder containing sulfur, and the contaminated water contains at least one type of the following heavy metals: arsenic, selenium, lead, cadmium, and chromium; and when necessary, the agent is capable of satisfying such requirements as practical equipment size, water passing conditions, and long-term durability. Also disclosed is a useful treatment method that uses said treatment agent.
