Abstract:
The present invention relates to a trehalose fatty acid ester composition that contains trehalose fatty acid esters, wherein a fatty acid residue having 8 to 22 carbon atoms makes up more than 50 mass% of the total amount of all of fatty acid residues contained in all of the trehalose fatty acid esters in the composition, at least two esters independently selected from the group consisting of a trimester, a tetraester, a pentaester, a hexaester, a heptaester and an octaester are contained, and the ratio of the total amount of the contained esters to the total amount of the trehalose fatty acid esters in the composition is 20 to 100% by area. The present invention can provide a composition which has excellent thermal stability, has an excellent activity of controlling the hardness of various waxes, can be used as a solid agent together with a wax in various cosmetics, and can impart an excellent shape-retaining property, good sensation upon use, and long-lasting performance to a cosmetic when the composition is added to the cosmetic.
