Abstract:
In this tripod-type constant velocity universal joint 1 of a double roller type, the carbon content in a core section of a tripod member 3 is 0.23-0.44%, and a hardened layer 16 of a carburized layer is provided on the surface of a leg shaft 32. An intermediate section 33 provided between a trunk section 31 and the leg shaft 32 of the tripod member 3 is provided with: a first region P which includes the axial line of the leg shaft 32 and has a radius of curvature Ra on a cross-section in a direction perpendicular to the joint shaft direction; and a second region Q which includes the axial line of the leg shaft 32 and has a radius of curvature Rb on a cross-section in the joint shaft direction, such that Ra>Rb.
