Abstract:
The object aims to identify a protein having an activity to oxidize an oleanane-type triterpene and a gene encoding the protein, and to provide the protein, the gene and use of the protein or the gene.  For example, disclosed are a protein having an activity to oxidize an oleanane-type triterpene and produced from a plant belonging to the genus Fabaceae, a gene encoding the protein, and use of the gene.  The protein is depicted in, for example, SEQ ID NO:4, SEQ ID NO:14 or SEQ ID NO:18.  The gene encoding the protein is depicted in, for example, SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:13 or SEQ ID NO:17.  A transformant having the gene introduced therein is produced, and a triterpene oxidase is produced by using the transformant.
