Abstract:
Disclosed are: a protein having an activity of oxidizing a dammarane triterpene;
a gene encoding the protein; and use of the protein or the gene. Specifically disclosed
are: a protein having an activity of oxidizing a dammarane triterpene, which
is produced from a plant belonging the genus Glychyrrhiza; a gene encoding
the protein; and use of the protein or the gene. The protein is depicted in SEQ ID
NO: 1, 2 or 13, and the gene encoding the protein is depicted in SEQ ID NO: 3, 4 or 14,
respectively. A transformant having the gene introduced therein is also produced,
which enables to produce a triterpene oxidase.
