Abstract:
Provided are a tritium water distillation device and tritium water distillation method whereby separation performance (relative volatility) is markedly enhanced, the theoretical plate number can be reduced to a practical level, and a reduction in practical device size can be achieved. A tritium water distillation device 1 separates light water (H2O) including tritium water (HTO or T2O) supplied as a stock solution into tritium water having a higher concentration than the stock liquid and tritium water having a lower concentration than the stock liquid. A distillation device 1 has a distillation column 2 for performing distillation in a temperature range greater than 40°C and no higher than 70°C, and the distillation column 2 uses an adsorbent as a filling material. The distillation column 2 is provided with a condenser 3 in the column top thereof, and a vacuum pump 5 is connected to the condenser 3. The inside of the distillation column 2 is maintained at a predetermined high degree of vacuum by the vacuum pump 5, and the stock liquid is distilled in a temperature range greater than 40°C and no higher than 70°C in the distillation column 2. The temperature range for performing distillation is preferably 50-70°C.
