Abstract:
The present invention provides a zinc oxide that has an excellent infrared shielding performance, a high whiteness, and also an excellent tactile sensation during use. The present invention is a trivalent metal-doped hexagonal plate-shaped zinc oxide having an aspect ratio of at least 2.5, the trivalent metal-doped hexagonal plate-shaped zinc oxide being characterized by a content of the trivalent metal element with reference to the element zinc of 0.15 to 5 mol%, a whiteness of at least 90, and a powder spectral reflectance at a wavelength of 1500 nm of not more than 80%.
