Abstract:
A catheter comprising a tube 10 and a cylindrical member 11 fixed by laser welding to the outer periphery of the tube 10, wherein the outer diameter R1 of a portion P1 of the tube 10 where the cylindrical member 11 has been fixed is different from the outer diameter R2 of a portion P2 of the tube 10 where the cylindrical member 11 has not been fixed (R1>R2) and the outer diameter R2 of the portion P2 of the tube 10 where the cylindrical member 11 has not been fixed is smaller than the inner diameter r of the cylindrical member 11 which is substantially equal to R1. In producing this catheter, the cylindrical member 11 is temporarily fixed to the outer periphery of the tube 10, air is injected into the inside of the tube 10 to bring the tube 10 into close contact with the cylindrical member 11, and the cylindrical member 11 is laser-welded.
