Abstract:
The present invention provides a turbocharger having an accelerator attached thereto. The turbocharger, which is driven by the exhaust of an internal combustion engine and compresses and supercharges intake air, has, between an impeller housing and a bearing housing, an accelerator for speeding up the rotation of an impeller so that, while a turbine wheel and a shaft are rotated by exhaust energy, thereby rotating the impeller connected thereto, the accelerator receives the rotational power from the shaft and the impeller and creates torque by the interaction of the attractive and repulsive forces of a rotating magnetic field created by a rotor module and a magnetic field of a driver module, thereby transmitting power at increased rpm and torque. Thus, an increased flow of compressed air having a higher boost pressure is supplied, enabling improved acceleration responsiveness throughout the entire driving range.
