Description:
Two-cylinder heat engine

Field of the Invention

The invention refers to a two-cylinder heat engine which can operate both on the principle of the steam engine or compressed-air engine and the engine burning pure hydrogen and oxygen.

Prior art

Currently we know a range of engines that use the expansion of the working fluid inside one or more working cylinders, in which the working fluid expands and pushes against the piston. Reciprocating linear motion of the piston is then mostly converted to rotary motion of the engine output shaft by the means of a connecting rod and a crankshaft.

The disadvantage of this typical structural arrangement of engines is namely the fact that especially at low engine speed the connecting rod and the crankshaft prevent smooth conversion of gas pressure to rotary motion, which would finally have, especially at long piston stroke in the cylinder, negative effect on the thermodynamic cycle and the engine efficiency. For this reason most of the existing engines of this type have a relatively short piston stroke in the cylinders. Another major disadvantage are high space requirements of these engines.

The aim of the assumed invention is to improve the structural arrangement of this engine type namely in regard to its size and overall efficiency. Summary of the Invention

This task is adressed by a two-cylinder heat engine, which consists of an engine case with two opposed working cylinders, in which the pistons are placed, and which are closed by the heads of working cylinders with the inlet and outlet valves, in accordance with the assumed invention, the principle of which is that the pistons of the working cylinders are firmly interconnected by the means of a connecting frame, which is provided with an internal rectangular recess with internal circumferential teeth oriented with its longitudinal axis in the direction of the piston motion, in which the upper gearwheel of the double pinion is arranged as shifting from one longer toothed side of the internal rectangular recess to the opposite longer toothed side of the internal rectangular recess, mounted on a revolving bracket which is swing-fitted on the output engine shaft, which is rotary-fitted in the engine case and equipped with a gearwheel gearing with the lower gearwheel of the double pinion. 1 The principle of the invention is also that the piston connecting frame is equipped on its outer side in direction of the piston motion with a linear guideline which is lead in a guide prepared on the engine case cover.

The basic difference between the two-cylinder heat engine made after this invention and similar types of existing engines is the connecting frame which is firmly connected to* the pistons and is fixed on its side by means of a guideline in direction Of the motion of pistons- inside the working cylinders. Linear reciprocating motion of the pistons is converted to rotary motion of the output shaft by rolling of the upper gearwheel in the internal circumferential teeth of the internal rectangular recess and its automatic shifting in the top and bottom dead centres of the pistons by the means of a revolving bracket through geared sections on its shorter sides from one longer geared side to another, which keeps the dbuble piston revolving in the same direction while this rotary motion of the double piston is converted by means of its lower gearwheel through the gearwheel to the rotary motion of the output shaft. You can keep the engine small if you put the connecting frame inside the working cylinders, even in large stroke volumes.

Another principle of the invention is that the revolving bracket of the double piston is equipped with a lock and a bolt. This lock and bolt prevents the upper gearwheel of the double pinion during the engine operation from escaping from the gear with the internal circumferential teeth of the internal rectangular recess of the connecting frame or its respective geared side, while this lock is always freed and fixed again every time the pistons connected by this frame reach the top or bottom dead centre and the upper gearwheel of the double' pinion is shifted from one longer toothed side of the internal rectangular recess of the connecting frame to another.

Naturally, there are gaskets under the cylinder heads and the inlet and outlet valves on the cylinder * heads can be equipped with mechanical or electromagnetic control.- A " two-cylinder heat engine according to the invention is designed as a low-speed engine; in this arrangement it can operate as a steam engine or compressed-air engine, or if you add suitable injectors it can work as ah internal combustion engine burning pure hydrogen and oxygen. Substantial advantage of the two-cylinder ; heat engine according to the invention are the lowest possible space * requirements and immediate conversion of the power of the gas pressure to rotary motion, which increases its torque arid efficiency of the thermodynamic cycle.

Description of the Prefered Embodiment

Two-cylinder heat engine from the displayed sample design of the invention consists of the case 1 of ¾he engine, on which are opposite to each other arranged working cylinders' 2 and 3, on tops of which are screwed the cylinder heads 7 and 8. Heads 7 and 8 of the working cylinders 2 and 3 are equipped with inlet valves 15 and 16 and outlet valves 14 and 17 and there are gaskets 21 a 22 under the heads- inside the working cylinders 2 and 3 are placed the pistons 6 and 5 which are furnished with piston rings 20 and 19, where both pistons 6 and 5 are interconnected by the means of a connecting frame 4. In the connecting frame 4 is prepared an internal rectangular recess ΑΛ with: internal circumferential teeth Λ oriented with its longitudinal axis in direction of the motion of pistons 5 and 6. The side of the connecting frame 4 is equipped with a guideline 4^3, which by means of a guide 13 provides for ' stable position of the connecting frame 4 against the double pinion 11 The 1 f guide 13 is securely bolted to the cover 12 that belongs to the case f .

In the case of the engine is in two bearings placed an output shaft 9 with a gearwheel 24, which is sealed with a shaft seal 18. On the upper side of the output shaft 9 is placed the revolving bracket 10, in which is arranged as revolving a double pinion f1_ with the lowergearwheel 11.2 gearing with a gearwheel 24 on the shaft 9j and with the upper gearwheel 11.1 gearing with the internal circumferential teeth 4^2 of internal rectangular recess 4J. of the connecting frame 4. ;

During the motion of pistons 5 and 6 and the connecting frame 4 from the bottom to the top dead centre and back is shifted the upper gearwheel 11.1 5 of the double pinion 11 in the bottom dead centre from the left side of the internal circumferential teeth 4j2 of the connecting frame 4 to its right side, while the double pinion 11 keeps rotating in the same direction and to prevent it from escaping -during the engine operation from the internal circumferential teeth ; 4j2: of the internal rectangular recess 4J. of the l o connecting frame 4, it is equipped with a lock 23 and a bolt 23.1. which form a part of the revolving ' bracket 10. The bolt: 23.1 is situated opposite the opening ΛΛ_ prepared on the side of the case Λ of the engine, by which the bolt 23.1 is controlled by the means of a mechanical or electromagnetic device mounted on th&case- of the engine/ '
