Abstract:
Provided is a two-wheeled electric vehicle that includes: a battery; a three-phase alternating current electric motor that has a first-phase, a second-phase, and a third-phase coil, and generates driving force to be transmitted to a drive wheel; and a motor controller that controls the supply of current from the battery to the electric motor coils. The motor controller includes: a drive circuit that includes a first-phase circuit, second-phase circuit, and third-phase circuit, each of which has a series circuit having an upper arm switching element and a lower arm switching element; a short-circuit control means that places the electric motor in the short-circuited state by turning on the lower arm switching elements of the first-phase circuit, second-phase circuit, and third-phase circuit in response to the establishment of a short-circuit condition; and a release control means that, in response to the establishment of a release condition when the electric motor is in the short-circuited state, releases the short-circuited state by turning off the lower arm switching element of the corresponding phase circuit when the current flowing from the coil of a given phase is equal to or less than a prescribed value.
