Title:
ULTRA-HIGH PRESSURE MERCURY LAMP
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2008/020582
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A long-life ultra-high pressure mercury lamp in which flickering is eliminated by varying the magnitude of a superposition pulse depending on the variation of parameters in a light-emitting tube. In an ultra-high pressure mercury lamp comprising a light-emitting tube having a pair of electrodes at the opposite ends and filled with mercury, where a current pulse of the same polarity as that of an AC lamp current is superposed on the AC lamp current when the ultra-high pressure mercury lamp is lighted by being supplied with the AC lamp current, the lamp voltage of the ultra-high pressure mercury lamp is detected and when the lamp voltage exceeds a predetermined value, the width and/or the height of the current pulse superposed on the AC lamp current is/are differentiated from the width and/or the height of the current pulse when the lamp voltage has a predetermined value depending on the lamp voltage value.
