Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene powder which balances high strength and high stretchiness (high orientation), and exhibits superior appearance, processing ease, and suppression of sootiness when processing. This ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene powder exhibits a viscosity average molecular weight Mv of 10×104 to 1,000×104, inclusive, wherein: the viscosity average molecular weight Mv and the viscosity average molecular weight Mv(A) of a kneaded product obtained by kneading according to specific kneading conditions satisfy the relationship of (Mv-Mv(A))/Mv being 0.20 or less; ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene powder having a particle diameter of at least 212μm is contained therein; and the average pore volume of the powder having a particle diameter of at least 212μm is at least 0.6 ml/g and the average pore diameter thereof is at least 0.3μm.
