Disclosed are an ultrasonic diagnosis device and a controlling method thereof. The ultrasonic diagnosis device according to embodiments of the present invention includes: a control panel having a plurality of character input keys through which characters are inputted and at least one functional selection buttons for selecting functions; a selection menu provision unit for providing selection menus for the kinds of characters corresponding to the character input keys of the control panel and the kinds of functions corresponding to the functional selection buttons; and a control unit for controlling the input of the character corresponding to the selected kind of character or the execution of the function corresponding to the selected kind of function when one of the kinds of characters and the kinds of functions is selected on the basis of the selection menus.
