Abstract:
In an ultrasonic diagnostic device and a method for controlling the ultrasonic diagnostic device according to the present invention, an orientation sensor detects whether the orientation of a monitor is a vertically long orientation or a horizontally long orientation, and a display control unit displays an ultrasonic image on a display screen on the basis of the orientation the monitor. An undisplayed region detection unit detects whether or not an undisplayed region that is not displayed on the display screen is in the ultrasonic image, and a blood vessel detection unit detects a blood vessel in the ultrasonic image. Then, when it is detected that an undisplayed region is present and also that a blood vessel is present in the undisplayed region, an orientation suggestion unit suggests changing the orientation of the monitor. It is thus possible to suggest to a user a monitor orientation that is suitable for observing a blood vessel in an ultrasonic image when a needle is to be inserted into the blood vessel.
