Abstract:
This ultrasonic sensor (1) is provided with a case (2), a piezoelectric element (3), terminal portions (11A and 11B), and an encapsulant (8). The case is of a bottomed cylindrical shape and has a vibration area upon the bottom surface. The piezoelectric element is attached to the vibration area within an opening of the case. The terminal portions, tips of which are disposed within the opening of the case, are drawn outside from within the opening of the case. Damping material of urethane resin as a main material is filled within the opening of the case. In such a configuration, the damping material comprises a material for which the glass transition point is on a side of a lower temperature than the minimum temperature of a temperature range for actual usage, and is characterized in that for the loss-modulus-of-elasticity-to-temperature property, the inflection point positioned at the side of high-temperature of a peak centered on the glass transition point falls outside of the temperature range for actual usage.
