Abstract:

Provided is an ultrasonic transducer including: an element equipped with an electromechanical conversion element for converting an electric signal inputted between a first electrode terminal and a second electrode terminal, into oscillation; an array unit having a plurality of the elements arranged in a matrix formed by n of the elements in the row direction and m of the elements in the column direction (n ≤ m); and an array formation unit which executes switching between a column-direction primary array state and a row-direction primary array state in the array unit. The column-direction primary array state is formed by m elements which electrically connect the first electrode terminals in the elements arranged in the same column. The row-direction primary array state is formed by n elements which electrically connect the first electrode terminals in the elements arranged in the same row.
