A mannequin for ultrasound guided surgical training, comprising an artificial bone structure comprising a surface portion reflecting ultrasound waves, artificial tissues comprising any one or more of artificial ligaments, artificial tendons, artificial nerves, artificial blood vessels formed of a material having a partial transparency and partial reflectance to ultrasound waves, and anechoic material surrounding said artificial tissues and artificial bone structure, and an artificial skin formed of an elastomeric layer of material enveloping the anechoic medium.
