Abstract:
Provided in one aspect of the present invention are an ultrasound imaging apparatus and a method for controlling same, the ultrasound imaging apparatus capable of more conveniently setting a probe marker attached to a body marker on an ultrasound image and diagnosing an object with more accuracy based on same, when a user obtains an ultrasound image of the object having a symmetrical structure. The ultrasound imaging apparatus, according to one embodiment, comprises: an ultrasound probe for obtaining the ultrasound image of the object; a display unit for displaying images including the ultrasound image; an input unit for receiving control commands for a first probe marker set based on the location of the ultrasound probe and a body marker set based on the type of the object; and a control unit for enabling the user to set the body marker through the input unit, the user to set the first probe marker corresponding to the body marker through the input unit, and when a symmetrical structure is present in the object, to form a symmetrical body marker that is symmetrical to the body marker, and forming a second probe marker which corresponds to the symmetrical body marker and is symmetrical to the first probe marker.
