Abstract:
Provided is an ultraviolet irradiation apparatus, wherein exposure to ultraviolet rays is more reliably prevented. The present invention comprises: a UVC-LED (12a) that irradiates ultraviolet rays; a biological sensor (11) disposed in the periphery of the UVC-LED (12a) such that the irradiation area of the UVC-LED (12a) and the sensing area overlap with each other to detect the presence of a person; a control circuit (1a) for controlling the UVC-LED (12a) on the basis of output signals of the biological sensor (11); and a light-shielding cover (3b) that blocks a part of the ultraviolet ray emitted from the UVC-LED (12a). The control circuit (1a) controls the driving of the UVC-LED (12a) by causing the same to stop the ultraviolet ray emission when the biological sensor (11) detects the presence of a person, and to resume the ultraviolet ray emission when the biological sensor (11) switches from the state in which the presence of a person is being detected to the state in which the presence of a person is not being detected.
