Abstract:

Disclosed is an ultraviolet oxidation device that can efficiently and stably break down organic materials present in water at a low cost and with low energy consumption. Further disclosed are an ultrapure water production device using same, an ultraviolet oxidation method, and an ultrapure water production method. In the ultraviolet oxidation device—which is provided with: a flow tank (10) wherein water being processed is caused to flow in one direction; photocatalytic fibers (12) disposed within the flow tank (10) in a manner such that the water being processed can flow through; an ultraviolet radiating unit (14) that can radiate ultraviolet rays; and an ultraviolet radiating unit housing unit (16) that houses the ultraviolet radiating unit (14) and that is provided across the entire surface of the interior of the flow tank (10) that intersects the flow direction of the water being processed—the ultraviolet radiating unit housing unit (16) is formed in a manner so as to cause the water being processed to flow into said housing unit from the upstream side towards the housed ultraviolet radiating unit (14) and to cause the water being processed to flow within the housing unit (16) and then to flow out to the downstream side, and is configured from elements that allow the ultraviolet rays from the ultraviolet radiating unit (14) to radiate to the photocatalytic fibers (12).
