Provided is an underpants-type absorbent article in which an absorbent article that comprises a stomach-side section that is arranged on the stomach side of a wearer when worn, a back-side section that is arranged on the back side of the wearer, and a crotch section that is arranged between the thighs of the wearer is folded in half at the crotch section with the stomach-side section and the back-side section overlapping and the stomach-side section and the back-side section are joined at each of the end sections thereof in the width direction so that a waist-encircling opening and a pair of leg-encircling openings are formed at positions that differ from each other in a vertical direction that intersects the width direction. The underpants-type absorbent article comprises a variation section in a predetermined range in the vertical direction, and the total value (g/m2) of the basis weight of the stomach-side section and the basis weight of the back-side section varies from a first basis weight (g/m2) to a second basis weight (g/m2) in said variation section. A through hole is formed in at least one end section among the end sections in a part that is in the predetermined range.
