Abstract:
An underwater expandable riser, comprising: a riser body (1), and a water expandable layer (2) sleeved over the riser body (1). The bearing capacity of the riser is greatly improved, without increasing the size or setting depth of the riser, thereby ensuring the stability of a wellhead of an offshore drilling and completion well. In addition, a construction method is routinized for easy on-site operations by using conventional construction machines, tools, and equipment for a riser, without changing the conventional construction process of the riser during on-site construction. Therefore, the expandable riser can be widely applied to fields related to exploration and development of marine resources.
