Abstract:
A plurality of gate drive circuits drive the respective gates of a plurality of switching elements included in a converter (6) and an inverter (10). The gate drive circuits include gate drivers and a power supply circuit. The gate drivers drive the gate voltage levels of the switching elements to a voltage level corresponding to an H-level or an L-level according to gate signals that are input to the gate electrodes of the switching elements from a control device (18). The power supply circuit supplies power to the gate drivers. When a first switch (14) is ON and a second switch (15) is OFF, the control device (18) turns on the second switch (15) and turns off the first switch (14) when an abnormality of the power supply circuit for the gate drive circuits is detected. The gate drive circuits are configured to hold the gate voltage levels of the switching elements during a period from when the abnormality of the power supply circuit is detected until the second switch (15) is turned on.
