Title:
UNIPOLAR TRANSVERSE MAGNETIC FLUX MACHINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2003019756
Kind Code:
A8
Abstract:
The aim of the invention is to provide a unipolar transverse magnetic flux machine that has a modular design, thereby being simple in production. To achieve this aim, the stator (11) and the rotor (12) have the same number of respective identical stator modules (14) and rotor modules (15). Every stator module (14) comprises a toroid (23) disposed coaxially relative to the rotor shaft (13), and U-shaped stator yokes (14) overlapping said toroid. In order to achieve a high static torque, every rotor module (15) consists of two externally toothed rotor rings (16, 17) that enclose two permanent magnet rings (26, 27) that are radially magnetized in opposite directions and that in turn rest on a common flux guiding element (29) that is, for example, formed by the rotor shaft (13) that is made of a ferromagnetic material.
