UNIVERSAL BACK RESTING DEVICE

The present invention relates to a portable dental treatment device. More particularly the present invention relates to a universal back resting device capable of fixing in any chair and capable of adjusting angle of the hip joint as well as the neck joint of a subject for dental treatment.

BACK GROUND OF THE INVENTION AND PRIOR ART:

The existing dental chairs have a back rest rigidly fixed to the seat with hinge of the chair with movement possible over the hip joint of the patient. The head rest has facilities for adjusting the height of the neck. For accessing the front and back of the teeth of upper and lower jaw the whole back rest of the chair is moved which causes the movement at the hip joint of the patient while the head and neck lie in straight line. Further such dental chairs are expensive and not portable.

However there are reports available in the literature for the existence of portable dental chairs.

US 4334710 discloses a collapsible, portable dental chair designed for transport by a dentist from one examination site to another and particularly for rural area and school use. The chair comprises a patient receiving platform and associated headrest and a base and back support frame. The chair components are releasably fitted together to provide a patient chair which can be dismantled and folded at one examining site for transport to another examining site or for storage.

US 4,367,894 discloses a portable dental examining chair constructed from a series of panels hingedly joined in triangular patterns to form a rigid structure with an adjustable position backrest and a pair of sling-like armrests. A single horizontal adjustment on the base of the chair varies the tilt angle of the backrest while retaining the head of the patient in the same relative horizontal position. US 8770971 discloses Mobile surgical dental chair and method of manufacture. The mobile surgical dental chair includes an adjustable backrest, an adjustable headrest, a plurality of locking wheels configured to provide mobility to the mobile surgical dental chair, dental tools integrated with and coupled to the mobile surgical dental chair, and connect hook-ups configured to connect the dental tools to one or more supply sources. The dental tools may include an air/water syringe, suction tube, and a rotary hand piece.

From the prior art it is inferred about the availability of various collapsible or mobile dental chair. However such dental chairs suffer various drawbacks like having heavy base and firm seat with rigid interconnection with the back rest, expensive, difficult to mobilize, demands skilled person to fix, consumes more time to fix etc. Hence there exists an urgent need in the state of art to develop a novel portable dental device which can be fixable to any chair and is devoid of above said drawbacks.

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION:

The main object of the present invention is to develop a novel, economical, light weight, flexible, detachable, easily mobile and highly versatile universal back resting device for dental treatment of a subject.

Another object of the present invention is to develop an universal back resting device capable of fixing in any ordinary chair having backrest with a seat arrangement which are available in the field.

Yet another object of the present invention is to develop an universal back resting device comprising of plurality of vertical sections vertically connected through plurality of connecting means and atleast one fastner for detachably attaching the device to a chair.

Yet another object of the present invention is to develop an universal back resting device capable of adjusting angle of the hip joint as well as the neck joint of the subject...

Yet object of the present invention is to develop an universal back resting device to reduce the necessity to carry or transport the conventional dental chair to provide treatment any were in the world. These and further objects derive from the following description of exemplary embodiments of the invention.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:

The present invention shall disclose an universal back resting device for dental treatment. The device of the present invention is capable of fixing to any chair and capable of adjusting angle of the hip joint as well as the neck joint of a subject. The device comprises of three vertical sections top( l ), middle(2) and bottom(3) of rigid support having front side and back side, plurality of connecting means, and atleast one fastener. The top section is vertically connected to the middle section through connecting means(5-7) thereby allowing the top section( l)to fold backwards with arrangement for locking at different angles for adjusting the angle of the neck of the subject The middle section(2) is vertically connected to the bottom section(3) through connecting means(5-7) thereby al lowing the bottom section(3) to fold in backward direction for adjusting to the height of the subject. The fastener(4) is fixed at a predetermined position of atleast one of the vertical section for detachably attaching the device to backrest of the chair at a necessary angle with seat of the chair. The front side of the vertical sections or atleast top section is fitted with cushion for comfortability to the subject.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:

The present invention relates to a Universal Back Resting Device for dental treatment. The device has three pieces of rigid support with top(l ), middle(2) and bottom(3) connected with hinge joints with locks(5-7) for dental surgery. The device has an hinge(6) towards the bottom side for adjusting to the height of the patient, and an hinge(6) towards the top to adjust the angle of the neck. Further the device is capable of being placed on any type of chair with fastener(4). The back resting device is being made of plywood or any other rigid material and the device is being fitted with cushion over upper part or the whole.

The device of the present invention is made of three boards of plywood of 0.75 inches thickness, the top(l ) being 10 inches long, the middle(2) being 17 inches long and bottom(3) being 3 inches long. The top board is cushioned. The three boards are connected with two hinge joints(5-7) which are made of stainless steel with angle adjustment is done with step lock made of stainless steel. The upper hinge connecting the top( l ) and middle(2) board allows the top board to fold backwards with arrangement for locking it at different angles. The lower hinge connecting the middle(2) and bottom(3) boards folds only in backward direction. Figure 1 , 2 and 3 illustrates the schematic front, back and side view of the universal back resting device of the present invention;

The device of the present invention can be placed upright on any type of chair including ordinary chair and then fastened by a fastener(4) to the back rest of the chair at necessary angle with the seat of the chair. The patient is asked to sit on the seat of the chair and reclined on the universal back rest with his head resting on the top board with the neck resting at the level of the hinge. The dental surgeon stands by the side of the head of the patients. The access to the front and back of the upper and lower jaws can be achieved by varying the angle of the top hinge joint(6) which allows the head to move at the neck joint. If the patient is short the bottom board is folded backward on the bottom hinge(6) to reduce the height of the back resting device The inventiveness in the Universal Back Resting Device of the present invention is as follows

• The Universal Back Resting Device is flexible and detachable, and is capable of fixing it in any chair or base

• The Universal Back Resting Device can be carried easily and can be fixed by anyone without skilled personals

• The Universal Back Resting Device is offering both the adjustment of angle of the hip joint as well as the neck joint, hence it is more versatile.

• The Universal Back Resting Device can be carried to the field and can be fitted on ordinary chairs which are available in the field, which eliminates carrying heavy dental chairs which are expensive also.

Thus the Universal Back Resting Device of the present invention is economical, Light weight, Flexible, Detachable, even unskilled person can fix, Easy to carry, Easy to mobilize and Consume less time to fix

In one of the preferred embodiment the present invention shall disclose an economical, light weight, flexible, detachable, easily mobile and highly versatile universal back resting device for dental treatment of a subject. The device of the present invention is capable of fixing to any chair and capable of adjusting angle of the hip joint as well as the neck joint of the subject. The device comprises of three vertical sections top( l), middle(2) and bottom(3) of rigid support having front side and back side, plurality of connecting means(5-7), and atleast one fastener(4).The top section(l ) is vertically connected to the middle section(2) through atleast one connecting means(5-7) comprising of adjustable locking system fixed towards top on the back side of the vertical sections thereby allowing the top section( l ) to fold backwards with arrangement for locking at different angles for adjusting the angle of the neck of the subject. The middle section(2) is vertically connected to the bottom section(3) through atleast one connecting means(5-7) comprising of adjustable locking system on the back side of vertical sections thereby allowing the bottom section(3) to fold only in backward direction for adjusting to the height of the subject. Atleast one fastener(4) of predetermined length is fixed at a predetermined position of atleast one of the vertical section for detachably attaching the device to backrest of the chair at a necessary angle with seat of the chair. Further the front side of the said vertical sections( l -3) or atleast said top section( l ), is fitted with cushion for comfortability to the subject.

As per the invention the top( l ), middle(2) and bottom(3) sections of the the universal back resting device are made of plywood or nova pan (compressed particle wood) or any rigid material like fiber or steel.

In accordance with the invention the locking system(5-7) of the device includes locking hinge joints or multi level locking system.

According to the invention the locking system(5-7) of the device is made of mild stainless steel (MS) or any kind of steel.

As per the invention the top( l ), middle(2) and bottom(3) vertical sections of the device has thickness which includes 0.75 inches.

In accordance with the invention the top section( l )of the device has the length which includes 10 inches.

According to the invention the middle section(2) of the device has the length which includes 1 7 inches.

As per the invention the bottom section(3) of the device has the length which includes 3 inches.

In accordance with the invention the universal back resting device has plurality of vertical sections with varying dimensions. These vertical sections are connected vertically through plurality of connecting means, and movement of lower section can be made forward or backward movement for adjusting to the height of the subject.

According to the invention the universal back resting device can be fixed rigidly to the chair for adjusting angle of the hip joint as well as the neck joint of the subject.

Certain modifications and improvements will occur to those skilled in the art upon a reading of the foregoing description.
