Abstract:
Provided is a universal caster which allows a cart or other wheeled platform for carrying heavy objects to be moved effortlessly due to the load during initial movement and when being moved over uneven surfaces being reduced, and which is not susceptible to problems occurring in the free rotation of the universal caster. The universal caster is equipped with two stages, upper and lower rotary portions. The lower rotary portion B is mounted to an upper supporting shaft 3 of the upper rotary portion A in order to be rotatable with respect to the upper rotary portion. A universal fitting 7 for pivotally supporting a wheel 8 is mounted to a lower supporting shaft 6 of the lower rotary portion in order to be rotatable with respect to the lower rotary portion. The lower supporting shaft 6 is displaced in the horizontal direction from the upper supporting shaft 3, and displaced in the horizontal direction from the perpendicular lines of the universal fitting 7 passing through a wheel shaft 9. The wheel 8 is supported by the wheel shaft 9 with one or more rows of spiral springs 16 therebetween.
