Abstract:
A novel process for producing antiviral drug oseltamivir phosphate (trade mark: Tamiflu) without using shikimic acid as a raw material; and a novel raw material or intermediate for use in the production process. It is a compound represented by the following general formula (I) or (II) (wherein R1 and R4 each independently represents t-butoxycarbonyl, benzyloxycarbonyl, acetyl, benzyl, fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl, p-methoxybenzyl, 4-nitrobenzoyl, 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl, or hydrogen).
