Abstract:
The present invention provides an upper body assistance device provided with a function to provide muscles around both shoulders with a force raising the arm. The upper body assistance device includes an upper body belt 30 that links a first point above the right hip to a second point above the left hip of a subject by extending along a route from the first point through the back of the body of the subject onto the left shoulder of the subject, then through the front of the body of the subject to the left armpit of the subject, then through the back of the body of the subject to the right armpit of the subject, then through the front of the body of the subject onto the right shoulder of the subject, and then through the back of the body of the subject to the second point. The upper body belt 30 is crossed over the upper body belt 30 itself at the back of the subject to form an intersection point and a horizontal portion of the belt is located below the intersection point. A distance from the intersection point of the upper body belt 30 to the horizontal portion is 7 cm or shorter.
