Title:
URINAL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/085017
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a urinal installed in a men's public restroom, the shape of which is changed in a simple manner to provide a suitable level of physical privacy for urinating men. The urinal according to the present invention is configured such that both sides of the main body of the urinal, which form both sides of a urine-receiving space of the urinal, protrude to different distances from the wall of the restroom to enable the man to turn his body in a diagonal direction while urinating, that is, to turn his body by a predetermined angle from the front, thus preventing the body of the urinating man from being exposed toward the exit of the restroom. As opposed to conventional urinals in a men's public restroom in which urinating men, facing the wall of the restroom, stand in a line while urinating, the urinal of the present invention enables urinating men using urinals adjacent to each other to stand in a diagonal direction to prevent the urinating men from seeing each other in the lateral direction, thereby providing a suitable level of physical privacy when urinating. The urinal of the present invention may reduce gaps between urinating men, and eliminate the necessity of partitions between urinals, thus reducing the space required for installing urinals and increasing the number of urinals able to be installed in the restroom as compared to conventional urinals. Further, as the urinating men stand in a diagonal direction, urine is prevented from spattering. The urinal according to the present invention comprises a urinal body installed in a vertical direction on the wall of a restroom, and the urine-receiving space formed in a vertical direction by the opening of the front of the urinal body, wherein one side of the urinal body, which forms one side of the urine-receiving space, protrudes from the wall of the restroom farther than the other side of the urinal body, which forms the other side of the urine-receiving space, thereby enabling the urinating man to turn his body toward said one side of the urinal body.
