Abstract:
A urinary glucose biosensor comprising a pH meter and, disposed on a portion of pH electrode or in the vicinity thereof, a reactant consisting of a bag having glucose oxidase or glucose dehydrogenase and a mediator sealed therein, or a carrier impregnated with glucose oxidase or glucose dehydrogenase and a mediator. In the use of the urinary glucose biosensor, the reagents of the carrier or bag are disposed of every time. Thus, even when the reagents are stored in the dry state, any structural change of the enzymes is slight, thereby stabilizing the performance of the sensor. Consequently, both the reactant and the pH meter are portable, so that as different from the conventional measuring instruments, it is not needed to add any buffer for storage and urinary glucose measurement can be performed at any time in any place.
