Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of a siloxane elastomer gel in cosmetic preparations in order to increase the water-resistance of said preparations. Said gel is produced by the hydrosilylation product of (1) a polyorganosiloxane, having linear alkenyl end groups, of formula: Mvi

yM2-a, in whichx is a number from 450 to 1,250, y is a number from 0 to 200, a is a number from 0 to 2, with the restriction that a+y is in the range of 1 to 20, Mvi is defined as R1R2R3SiO1/2,whereR1 is a monovalent unsaturated hydrocarbon group comprising 2 carbon atoms and R2 and R3, independently of one another are monovalent C1 to C40 hydrocarbon groups, D is defined as R4R5SiO2/2,where R4 and R5 independently of one another are monovalent C1-40 hydrocarbon groups, Dvi is defined asDvi= R6R7SiO2/2, where R6 is a monovalent unsaturated hydrocarbon group comprising 2 to 10 carbon atoms and R7 is independently a monovalent C1-40 hydrocarbon group, M is defined as M = R8R9R10SiO1/2,where R8, R9 and R10 independently of one another are monovalent C1-40 hydrocarbon groups and (2) a resin of formula: (MH
wQz)j, where Q has the formula SiO4/2 and MH is defined as: HbR11
3-bSiO1/2, where R11 is a monovalent C1-40 hydrocarbon group, b is a number from 1 to 3, w and z have relative proportions of 0.5 to 4.0 and j ranges between 2.0 and 100, said hydrosilylation being carried out in the presence of (3) decamethyl cyclopentasiloxane.
