Abstract:
Disclosed is the use of a uranium-containing compound as a scintillator. The uranium-containing compound is an organic-inorganic hybrid or a uranium-containing inorganic compound, wherein the uranium-containing organic-inorganic hybrid is a uranium-containing organic carboxylate or a uranium-containing organic phosphate; and the uranium-containing inorganic compound is a uranium-containing nonmetallic acid salt, a uranium-containing metallic salt or a uranium-containing halide. The uranium-containing compound has an intrinsic scintillation ability, providing a new concept for the development of scintillators of various types of chemical compositions and morphologies (organic-inorganic, and inorganic) using the uranium element.
