Abstract:
Provided is a system that requires no need for a user ID input step and that enables both identification and authentication of a user ID in a single step of entering a one-time password. User authentication is carried out, on the basis of an authentication character string in which a user ID is embedded in a given embedding position within the one-time password, by using, as a password for a user subject to authentication, a one-time password derivation rule for generating the one-time password by applying, to pattern elements at a specific position when the plurality of pattern elements are presented to the user as a presentation pattern, a plurality of pattern elements arranged in a prescribed pattern. In so doing, an authentication character string that is correct for the presentation pattern being presented is generated for every user ID and is used as a verification code. In the case where there is a verification code that is identical to an authentication character string entered by a user, user authentication for a user ID corresponding to said verification code is successfully conducted.
