User equipment that communicates with one or more base stations over a mobile communication system that supports carrier aggregation. The user equipment is provided with: a control unit that, from among a plurality of cells or a plurality of cell groups that configure the carrier aggregation, selects a specific cell or a specific cell group as a reference for the carrier switching timing for uplink transmission; and a transmission unit that, on the basis of the timing of a transient period at the selected specific cell or specific cell group, switches from uplink transmission that uses the carrier of a first cell to uplink transmission that uses the carrier of a second cell.
