Abstract:
An electronic utility meter coupled to an electrical system of a facility includes a source of energy consumption information, a display, a power supply operable to convert AC electrical power from an external power source to bias power and a processor. The processor is coupled to the source of energy consumption information to receive energy consumption information therefrom. The processor is operable to generate metering display information based at least in part on said energy consumption information, and provide the metering display information to the display. The processor is further operable to determine whether the power supply is not receiving electrical power from the external power source, or in other words, whether there is a power interruption. The processor is further operable to detect an operator activated display request signal when the power supply is not receiving AC electrical power from the external power source and cause a display of metering information responsive thereto.
