Abstract:
A vacuum pump for inhibiting the intake of outer air into a drive chamber when a piston is actuated in the exhaust air direction is provided with: a cylinder; a piston disposed in the interior of the cylinder so as to be able to move in a reciprocating manner while partitioning the interior of the cylinder into a negative pressure chamber on the cylinder head side and a drive chamber on the opposite side of the negative pressure chamber; a piston ring inserted into an annular groove formed on the entire circumference of the outer surface of the piston and having a width that is narrower than the width of the annular groove; a valve unit disposed on the cylinder head and for controlling the supply of a fluid to the negative pressure chamber when the piston is moving in a reciprocating manner; a connection hole for connecting the drive chamber with the bottom portion of the annular groove; and a ventilation hole for connecting the drive chamber with the external space.
